The House Foreign Affairs Committee Minority Staff offers internships during the Spring, Fall, and Summer sessions.

The Summer 2026 internship application is now open until March 31st. Please do not call about your application.

The duration of the Summer 2026 internship will last from May 12th to July 24th. This is a paid internship.**

General internship
Interns will be responsible for providing staff members with policy and administrative support. Duties may include answering phones, compiling press clips, attending staff briefings, performing legislative and policy research, drafting memoranda and other written materials, and a variety of other tasks. Candidates should be team-oriented, resourceful, upbeat people who have skills beyond research and require little supervision. This internship is open to undergraduates (juniors and seniors), recent graduates, and Masters students. To apply, please fill out the application below. Communications Internship
As a communications intern, you will be responsible for supporting the Committee's day-to-day communications activities, including but not limited to helping manage digital tools and assets, drafting social media content, assisting with photography and videography, and drafting written material such as press statements, talking points, and remarks. A communications intern may be expected to support a variety of other tasks for Committee staff as well. Candidates should possess strong writing skills, superb attention to detail, and familiarity with social media. Prior experience with digital tools such as Adobe Suite and Canva is preferred, though not required. This internship is open to undergraduates (juniors and seniors), recent graduates, and Masters students. Legal internship
The House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats is hiring a Legal Intern for the semester. This will offer a law student the unique opportunity to gain experience with legislation, policy, and Congressional oversight. Candidates should have completed at least one year of law school, have strong legal research abilities and written and oral communication skills, and be self-starters who take initiative. **To be employed by a House office in a paid position in the continental United States an individual must:

1. Be a U.S. citizen;
2. Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B);
3. Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
4. Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).
